CONSTRUCTION of Coffs Harbour’s newest health facility has officially begun.
The $7 million GP Super Clinic in Stadium Drive will start taking shape over the coming months ahead of its opening after the first sods were turned by Gumbaynggirr Elder and Super Clinic Chair Aunty Emily Walker at a small ceremony on Wednesday.
Representatives of building contractor Pattersons, Coffs Harbour City Council acting general manager Ben Lawson and Department of Health and Ageing staff joined with Super Clinic and Bawrunga Medical Services staff for the event.
Super Clinic chief executive Leavina Reid said the much needed facility had gone through a number of milestone since the project started but this was the biggest so far.
“We are pleased to be working with an excellent contractor on the development of the GP Super Clinic; a clinic that will offer innovative health services in a team-based approach to care”, Ms Reid said
Management are still looking for more medical staff to join the Super Clinic team having recently appointed clinical operations manager Myra Spurling.
“The Coffs Harbour GP Super Clinic is an exciting development in health for the region. The location of the building away from the busy town centre will offer people parking and easy access to GPs, allied health, radiology, pathology and pharmaceutical services,” Ms Spurling said.
